The Network Cable Tester TU-468L is a compact, easy-to-use tester designed for quick verification of Ethernet and telephone cables. It checks continuity, pair mapping, open/short conditions and provides a clear LED sequence to speed up cable troubleshooting on site.

Key Features

  • Supports RJ45 (Ethernet) and RJ11 (telephone) cable testing
  • Two operating modes: S (slow automatic) and M (manual)
  • Main tester and detachable remote tester for testing installed runs and patch leads
  • LED sequence indication for fast pair mapping and fault identification
  • Compact size: 105 x 110 mm, portable for field use
  • Power supply: 9V battery (not included)

Technical Specifications

  • Model: TU-468L
  • Size: 105 x 110 mm
  • Power: 9V battery (not included)
  • Connectors: RJ45 (8 pins) and RJ11 (6 pins)
  • Indicator sequence – Main tester: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-G
  • Remote tester mapping:
    • RJ45: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-G
    • RJ11: 1-2-3-4-5-6

How to Use

  1. Install a 9V battery in the main tester (battery not included).
  2. Plug one end of the cable into the main tester and the other end into the remote tester.
  3. Select mode: S for slow automatic testing, M for manual step-through testing.
  4. Power on the main tester. Observe the LED indicators on both main and remote units.
  5. Normal result: LEDs light sequentially from pin 1 to G (ground) indicating correct continuity and pair order.
  6. If LEDs skip, double up, or stop, interpret as open, short, split pair, or miswire and re-test accordingly.

Interpreting Results

  • Sequential 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-G on both units: cable is correctly wired and continuous.
  • Missing LED(s): open or broken conductor.
  • Multiple LEDs lighting simultaneously or out of order: short or pair split/miswire.
  • RJ11 testing: only pins 1 through 6 are used and will sequence accordingly on the remote unit.

Typical Applications

  • Installation and verification of Ethernet patch cables and network drops
  • Testing telephone handset and wall jack cables (RJ11)
  • Troubleshooting patch panels, switches, wall outlets, and cable runs
  • Field service and quick diagnostics for IT and telecom technicians
