The Smart Traffic Light 2-Way System is an engaging and educational Arduino-based electronics project designed to demonstrate the working principle of automated traffic signal control at a two-road intersection. This project is ideal for students, beginners, STEM learning, science exhibitions, robotics enthusiasts, and DIY electronics lovers.
Using an Arduino Nano and dual traffic light modules, the system automatically controls traffic flow between two roads by switching Red, Yellow, and Green signals in a programmed sequence. The compact and portable setup operates on a 5V rechargeable battery, making it suitable for both indoor demonstrations and portable science fair presentations.
This project helps users understand:
- Basic traffic automation systems
- Arduino programming
- Timing and signal sequencing
- Embedded systems concepts
- Mini smart city and automation models

How the Arduino Traffic Control System Works
The Arduino Nano controls both traffic light modules through programmed timing sequences. At one side of the road, the Green signal turns ON while the opposite side remains Red. After a fixed delay, the Yellow signal activates for transition, and then the signals switch sides. This creates a fully automated 2-way traffic control system similar to real-world intersections.
