Overview
The Lithium Ion 2-Cell Battery Holder Shield is a compact power management module designed to securely hold and power electronics using two 18650 Lithium-Ion cells in series. Engineered for safety and convenience, the shield combines secure battery mounting, an onboard charging circuit, and multi-layer protection to deliver reliable 7.4V nominal power for portable projects, robotics, IoT devices, and other rechargeable systems.
Key Benefits
- Safe, rechargeable power for mobile electronics and prototyping
- Eliminates need for separate external charger when using the onboard charging input
- Integrated protection extends battery life and reduces risk of damage
- Compact footprint simplifies integration into custom enclosures and projects
Charging and Protection
The shield features an onboard charging circuit that supports charging via micro-USB or Type-C input depending on the model. Charging is managed to ensure cells reach full charge safely. Built-in protection circuits include overcharge protection, over-discharge protection, and short-circuit protection to help prevent damage to the cells and connected electronics.
Output and Integration
Two 3.7V 18650 cells are connected in series (2S) to provide a combined nominal voltage of 7.4V and a fully charged voltage of up to 8.4V. Standard output terminals or header pins make it simple to connect the shield to motor drivers, microcontrollers, wireless modules, and other electronics. Status LEDs show charging and power states for quick visual feedback.
